Working out and packing muscles is a long-term process. If you want to see visible gains in a short amount of time, you must focus on smaller factors that contribute to muscle improvement.

So, does the workout time matters at all? Read till the end to find out.

Is there a Perfect Time to Work out?

When starting to work out many people have a notion that bodybuilding solely depends on lifting heavier weights. This is a farfetched theory and is utterly false for most of us unless we’re gifted with exceptional genes.

Bodybuilding is a learning process that involves trial and error and unbreakable persistence. Various factors determine optimal muscle growth, and once we start satisfying them, our growth becomes visible.

Now, let’s return to the topic. Does looking for the perfect time to work out matters at all? It does.

According to various researches conducted by various authorities, it has been found that working out at a certain time result:

  • Performance boost.
  • Slight strength gain boost.
  • Significant acceleration in the muscle growth rate.

When should we Train?

In 2016, studies conducted by Maria Küüsma and her colleagues on 72 trained men discovered something interesting.

They were separated into two different groups and were asked to work out in the mornings and evenings respectively. After 24 weeks it was found that the evening group had experienced a whopping 50% more muscle growth than the morning group. Better strength improvements were also noticed in the evening group.

Similarly, research conducted by T.P. Scheett and colleagues, discovered that subjects that trained in the evening experienced greater muscle growth and fat loss than the morning goers.

Hence, it is clear that working out in the evening brings better results than in the morning.

What is the reason behind this?

Most people can perform better and gain faster results in the evening than in the morning. This is because:

  • The body is more hydrated.
  • It is more fueled with glycogen.
  • The core temperature is the highest.

This is important because core temperature highly contributes to exercise performance. In simpler words, you’re the strongest when your core temperature is highest, i.e. at around 3 pm to 9 pm.

Some Reminders before you Change your Routine.

Although it’s better to work out in the evening, consider these factors before changing your routine:

  1. In a physically involving job, it’s best to finish your workout before going to work to avoid fatigue.
  2. Gyms are often too congested in the evening. It means you have to wait longer for getting access to the equipment.

Can’t Manage in the Evening? This is what you can do.

These are the steps you can take to amplify your performance in the mornings:

  1. Researches show that ingesting coffee before morning workouts helps minimize performance decline.
  2. Do long warm-ups before morning workouts.
  3. Be consistent with the workout time.

The Final Wrap up!

Although evening workouts are best for most people, ultimately you have to decide your perfect time to work out. If you do what suits you consistently for a long time, you’ll achieve results no matter what.
